CES Agreement 2025-2026

Student Civic Engagement Scholars (CESs) are paid student leaders who work alongside the staff of the Center for The Mary Jane Underwood Stryker Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) and with community organizations and representatives. CESs serve as leaders and representatives for both K College and the Kalamazoo community. Their responsibilities and roles include project coordinator, meeting convener, reflection facilitator, attendance taker, event planner, site supervisor, social entrepreneur, educator, social justice leader, advocate for the community members with whom they work and representative of the CCE. They coordinate complex critical civic engagement initiatives with local agencies and units of government, public schools, health initiatives, and residents’ groups. They collaboratively develop advocacy and educational programming that promotes social change on campus, in the community, and beyond.
